The National Chinese American Jewelry Association (NCAJA) was founded in 1987 to help Asian American Jewelers establish their roots in the United states, as well as promote international trade. Likewise, the Hong Kong Gemstone Manufacturers' Association (HKGMA) was established in 2005 to help gemstone makers of Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and India market their enterprises. Throughout the years, either separately or together, we have successfully lobbied the U.S. Congress to significantly reduce tariffs of semiprecious stone jewerly, sponsered classes to train fresh new young American jewelers, worked with well renowned trade shows, and helped members' marketing campaigns. Both associations were solidly behind numerous efforts of raising relief funds for major catastrophes, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, deluges, and AIDS.

We both feel strongly about education and research. We are not shy in allocating our previous resources in an education trust fund, supporting university research programs, and sponsoring classes engaging new blood.

Every year, we have seized the opportunity in the tremendous gathering of jewelers in Tucson to hold the Chinese New Year Celebration Party. We do so to conclude and reflect on last year's hard work, and to welcome a new start, new challenge, and new endeavor. We wish to strengthen the solidarity and bond amongst members, and industrial peers. Also, to embrace the efforts, cooperation, and innovation we have envisioned for the new coming year.

This is the year of the Rooster, let us meet the challenges head on with adamant determination to raise our business and causes to the next level.
